Blossum the Divine Dog, The Book

How old were you when you got your first dog? Five, nine, fifteen, thirty-two? Even forty?

Me? I was a mere youngster of 61-3/4 years old. Yup. You read that correctly. Practically a senior citizen.

Longing for a dog of my very own, I spent most of my life in Los Angeles causing near-miss automobile accidents as I abruptly pulled over through multiple lanes of traffic to squeeze into non-existent parking spaces, leap out of my car and ask a shocked and befuddled stranger minding their own business, “can I pet your dog?” This kind of exchange occurred on a regular basis. Possibly diagnosable.

Then, in a magical flash, Blossum inserted her giant basset hound nose and her giant basset hound personality into all my affairs and inspired me with her witty and wise observations of life in our blog, Blossum the Divine Dog.

And now . . . Introducing: Blossum the Divine Dog, The Book! I’ve gathered fifteen of your favorite blogs in one collection. Join Blossum and me in our high jinks adventures as we navigate the interminable Covid-19 pandemic, doing our best to create lemonade out of the bitterest of lemons.

I’ve received an enormous show of support, with such comments as:

“This book is pure delight.”

“The integrity of the work and the joy of your friendship merits this book going viral.”

“This book proves that dogs and people go together like peanut butter and jelly!”

“Do yourself a favor and get this book.”

“Blossom’s voice is wise … and hilarious.”

I am happy to announce that Blossum the Divine Dog is now available to friends and fans. I hope you will join us on our journey.

Ilene Starr

Ilene Starr was born in Los Angeles, California, escaped to the Pacific Northwest in 2012 and has never looked back.

At the tender age of 61-3/4 years, after dreaming about having her own dog for decades, Ilene finally got her first dog when Blossum, basset hound, landed in her life and changed everything.

Ilene and Blossum’s first collaboration was a blog called Blossum the Divine Dog, a travelogue of profound, hilarious and deeply touching experiences which occurred in Portland, Oregon during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Then the book, Blossum the Divine Dog, took shape.

Blossum The Divine Dog may be summed up like this: “How I survived the Covid-19 pandemic guided by a gifted basset hound who possesses a wacky sense of humor, a reverent spirituality and lots of opinions. “
